Volunteer Opportunities for Tsunami Disaster Relief in Thailand

The world has shown overwhelming generosity in addressing the impact of this horrible disaster. We receive hundreds of emails each week from people who want to offer their time, money and resources to affected communities. We are incredibly grateful for each of these offers.

Our organization, however, has limited capacity to accomodate volunteers. We encourage you to review our mission, requirements and needs and consider whether or not you are a good fit. If you continue to pursue the volunteer opportunities described, we will contact you for further conversation.

We believe that communities themselves possess the best resources to solve their own problems, even in the most dire of times. Our organization supports the work of local intiatives to develop long-term, sustainable solutions. We believe that volunteers can provide important support for these initiatives. It is critical that volunteers share our mission.

Volunteer Requirements:

v Volunteers must commit to working with us for a minimum of one month.

v Volunteers must prioritize the needs of the community first over their own sense of fulfillment.

v Volunteers must understand our organization and mechanisms for working with the community.

v Volunteers must show respect and consideration to the affected communities.

v Volunteers are encouraged to donate 100 baht per day to help to cover the cost of operating the Khao Lak Nature Resort.

More details are available at Tsunami Volunteer Center at Khao Lak Nature Resort, Phang-Nga.
