ingen vil i hans klør.

The Killing on Koh Samui
The night between Wednesday and Thursday turned fatal for a 34 year old Danish citizen on the beautiful island of Koh Samui. A Swede got seriously wounded.

By Morten Perregaard

John Terry Petersen was sitting at this table just moments before he got killed

He was shot with this gun. A colt revolver caliber 32

His girlfriend Dokket is still shaken by the killing of her boyfriend

John Terry Petersen was 34 yerars old when he was killed Wednesday night

John Terry Petersen's life ended here

In a way that looked like an execution the 34 year old Dane, John Terry Petersen was shot dead in front of his girlfriend. He was hit by two bullets. One bullet went in to the back of his head and out through his right eye. The second bullet went into his chest. He was according to the police immediately dead.
The 34 year old Swede Lars Joakim Sallqvist was seriously wounded.
At the night of killing the two Scandinavians were sitting together and having a few beers at the bar Opal Lounge in Reggae Alley, Chaweng. John Terry Petersen sees a friend, a Frenchman. He goes to the table and says hello. The Frenchman asked how it is going, and the Dane replies that he hopes everything is okay. Suddenly, two Thai interrupts the conversation and asks provocative whether he really thinks everything is okay. This leads to a verbal fight which later slows down. The Dane returns to the table where the Swede is still sitting.
After a while they leave heading for the bar Green Mango. The Dane's motorbike is parked right outside. The Swede jumps on the back and the Dane in front. At the same time one of the Thai from the verbal fight earlier rushes out with a gun in his hand. He fires one shot that hit the Swede in the back. The gunman keeps running after John Terry Petersen on the motorbike and finally shoots and kills him 40 meters away from the Opal Lounge Bar. At the same time the Swede manages to escape up a small Soi. Shortly after he returns to the scene and walks back to Opal Lounge where he then goes down, due to a heavy loss of blood. He is conscious when the police arrives and is able to talk. He is also in panic and the paramedics have a difficult time keeping him calm.
He was the next day flown to Bangkok due to the massive loss of blood. According to Swedish media Lars Joakim Saææqvist is still hospitalized in Bangkok and his condition is stable.
It is believed that Lars Joakim Sallqvist just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.
It seems that John Terry Petersen and the Swede knew each other but were not close friends.
The tourist police on Koh Samui were the first to arrive at the scene of crime 1.55 AM. They received information about a shootout 1.50 AM.
The killer escapes on the back of a motorbike, believed to be driven by the other Thai from the verbal fight.
The police on Koh Samui arrested the suspected killer at 7.30 Thursday morning. He was found sleeping with the gun, a Colt 32 caliber revolver next to his head. (See picture)
At the arrest he admitted to having shot and killed the Dane and to having shot and wounded the Swede. Later Thursday, in front of a judge, he denied any involvement in the killing; despite the fact that hundred of witnesses saw him.
The suspected accomplish has not yet been caught by the police. But the police is working hard to find him.
Since the suspected killer so far has denied any connection to the shooting the motive remains unclear.
But speculations on the island have suggested that the Dane was involved in drugdealing. Evie, a bartender from nextdoor who was an eyewitness of the killing put it this way.
"A Thai does never go to war. But if attacked they defend themselves. In other words the Dane must have crossed a line he was not supposed to cross. And a serious one.”
When talking to the Danish daily Ekstrabladet/ Scandasia the night after the shooting the girlfriend Dokket explained that it likely was just a drunken man who went crazy. Earlier she made an interview with the Norwegian newspaper Agderposten where she said that John Terry Petersen probably became a victim of a hitman.
The island of Koh Samui has been shaken by unpleasant incidents recently.
Last New Year’s Eve a British woman was raped and killed by two fishermen on the beach, while talking on the cellar with her mum. Due to a fast respond from the police they found the perpetrators.
The chief of the tourist police is afraid that the consequences of the recent incidents could have an effect on the tourism.
“That is why I am glad that my colleagues within the police force have done such a great job by tracking down the gunman so fast,” he tells Scandasia.
Annually Koh Samui has 1,4 million tourist coming to the island to enjoy the sandbeaches and the cosy bars.

Update: There is doubt about the nationality of John Terry Petersen. The police have also found a Norwegian passport. According to Danish law dual citizenship is not allowed and when found out, the Danish citizenship will be revoked.

Ja man begynder jo at blive helt religiøs.
